About
Gathering presents Benjin Maza. Join us for a special lunchtime performance by Benjin Maza, a proud Meriam, Yidindji, Birri-Gubba and Tanna artist based in Magandjin (Brisbane). An award-winning multi-disciplinary performer, Benjin has captivated audiences across Australia and internationally through his work as a singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, playwright and director. Renowned for his ability to tell stories through music, movement and theatre, he has performed with leading arts organisations including Bangarra Dance Theatre, Queensland Theatre, Dead Puppet Society, Karul Projects, The Grin and Tonic Theatre Troupe, and Shock Therapy Arts. Throughout his career, Benjin has collaborated with acclaimed artists and productions, including performances alongside international music icons Sting and Shaggy. His work on Crossing the Divide, which he co-wrote and co-directed, earned him two Matilda Awards as both a performer and playwright. As a musician, Benjin has shared his original songs with audiences throughout South East Queensland, combining soulful melodies, sharp humour and dynamic stage presence to create memorable performances that reflect his unique perspective and storytelling style. Join us at the Queen Street Mall Main Stage from 12 noon to 1pm for an engaging lunchtime performance by Benjin Maza. This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tive Nations.
